Every morning James would read the obituaries and say, “Phew, my name’s not in here today!” Today, though, he probably would have said, “Well SH!T, there’s my name. Guess it’s time to go.” After just over 68 trips around the sun, James K Greiwe completed his journey and passed into eternity on December 17, 2017. He died suddenly from a suspected pulmonary embolism.
A memorial celebration will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Outlook Christian Church (6531 N 600 W, McCordsville, IN 46055). All are welcome.
Because James loved his family and held high the value of a good education, in lieu of flowers, if you feel so inclined, donations can be made that will be applied to education funds for each of his 5 grandchildren. Donations can be made in person or online at https://www.gofundme.com/jamesgreiwe

My memories of Mr. Greiwe growing up were so wonderful-he was an incredibly nice next door neighbor. I always remember him cutting his grass on his mower. The Greiwes also took my older sister Sara and I into their home when my baby sister was born-I remember thinking that their house was so neat! My condolences to the entire Greiwe family.

We didn’t know James Well, but he seemed like a wonderful Grandfather and Father. He would frequently drop off his grandson to preschool where my son attends, and he was so kind and thoughtful. He would always hold the door open for me and my son and smile. My family hopes peace will find you all. We are so sorry for you loss.

Jim was a friend and neighbor. A Notre Dame fan too. Guy never frowned, always smiled. Every now and then when we cut grass we would pass beers back and forth. He hand made a beer holder for his lawn tractor….Damn Engineers, always a step ahead. Rest In Peace Jim. Come see me when my name makes the obits….God Bless his family and friends

I had the pleasure of working alongside Jim at Delco-Remy, while I was employed there before being divested to Magnequench. He was always smiling, always helpful, always there when you needed a resource! My deepest sympathy to his family and close family friends. I’m sure his passing leaves a tremendous loss.

Jim was a great friend and individual. Jim always talked about his family and about how proud he was of everyone. In the early years of Lean at Delco Remy Jim and I traveled extensively leading Kaizen events at suppliers. We were learning as we went, and spent many nights trying to figure out what we were going to do the next day. Jim would always say ‘you only need to be 5 minutes ahead of them.’ We worked hard and laughed a lot.
Our visits with Jim and Mel were always fun. God bless Jim, and our prayers to Mel and the family in this sorrowful time.

I don’t remember meeting Jim for the first time. I just know that we became instant friends in Kindergarten at Sutten Elem School, Muncie, Indiana. We only lived a block from each other and our families were very similar in the number of children. Our Dads would enjoy an occasional beer together and our moms worked in the cafeteria at St. Lawrence School. Summers we were together playing either on his back steps or in my back yard, or maybe down at the river. He drove me to school during our senior year and I loved those cold morning rides in his old beat up car. We have remained close friends for 50 years. We exchange birthday and Christmas cards and occasionally a text message. I will miss him more than I ever though because I was sure he would always be there. Big brother, you are surely in the loving arms of Jesus. He greeted you saving “Come to me my good and faithful servant”. Jim, you will forever be in my thoughts. Love to Melanie and the family. You have lost a wonderful man. Jan Burgess (or as Jim calls me “Little Sis”
